I never learn...

When you're faced with a problem what's your first reaction?
I am a worrier so I spend  a lot of time thinking about how I can fix it, or maybe how I caused it, or especially how it could get worse...

Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Phil. 4:6,7

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19

I read these verses this morning and was so thankful to read just what I needed about peace. Unfortunately, I went through my day and didn't think about them again. Problems and stress piled up and a huge concern for my family occurred this afternoon. I was anxious and worried about the situation and how things would work out.  It wasn't until this evening that my thoughts wandered back to the verses and I realized I hadn't prayed about the situation or asked God to supply the need.  He knew I was going to be faced with that need; He was preparing me for it with the verses- I just needed to remember to ask Him for help.

He is waiting to help you with your problems  ... you just have to remember to ask too.

What is your favorite way to recharge when you feel drained of energy?

My favorite way to recharge is just to spend some quiet time at home. I am not particularly an outdoors-type person but I do love to take walks or sit outside and soak up a beautiful sunset. When the busyness and noise of life crowds in, it’s so nice to come home to a place of solitude and peace to recharge and rewind.  I love to read too - however,  these days I spend way too much time surfing the web. I have learned that I spend a lot of my time doing things like this when I am rewinding and they aren’t necessarily recharging. Do you do that? I end up doing easy things to relax or rewind and they may not be my favorite thing to do but they end up taking up most of my time and aren’t edifying, recharging, learning, inspiring, or helping me grow – TV watching is one of those activities.  With the New Year I am resolved to be more aware of how I am spending my time.

I’ve also learned the only way to really recharge comes from a relationship with God.  I don’t always turn everything over to Him when I should but I do know where my true strength lies…..

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

When you have the opportunity to recharge do you take the opportunity to do the activities that truly recharge you? If so, what are they?

Which Daily Tasks Take Up Most of Your Energy?

Happy Wednesday! I am trying something new and participating in NaBloPoMo. Read more about it here: NaBloPoMo
which provides a daily prompt… I likely won’t stick with the prompt as my creativity will likely lead me in a more practical direction most days, however I like the idea of having structure to my posts with a prompt.  Today’s question is.. Which Daily Tasks Take Up Most of My Energy… for me it depends what frame of mind I am in. I find that if I begin my day right I have a greater balance of energy throughout the day.   A lot of irritating small things, or tasks can deplete my energy if I allow them to do so - especially, if I am in the wrong frame of mind, or attitude.  I like to begin my day with quiet time, prayer, reading and a cup of coffee. I did yoga this morning and hope to incorporate more exercise into my mornings.  This routine helps me with those energy zappers for later in the day. If I know it is going to be a particularly rough day I try to focus on verses that will apply for the day.   This is my favorite verse for strength:

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. 2 Tim 1:7

What do you do when you’re facing a stressful, energy-depleting day or situation?

Happy New Year! A Fresh New Start...

Happy New Year!

Have you made your resolutions yet? I have a mental list of things ready to work on for this New Year. Some of them fall under this list of the top Top 10 New Years Resolution, others are those individual development and spiritual journeys as strive toward balance and peace.

I like New Year’s Resolutions and the New Year because they always bring so many possibilities and HOPE to the table.  For a short time everyone is full of ideas about what could be… what if…fresh starts …and a New Year’s Resolution List is formed from that hope that it can be accomplished.  It’s a great start to a new year, everyone thinking that they can change their world and make it better.  I expect with my busy life that I won’t keep up everything on my list but that’s okay, I’ll keep trying and to me that’s the most important thing.

Phil 4:13
I can do all things through Christ!

What do you think? Do you like Resolutions?
